Stern is the Creative Director and Principal of Whitney Stern Jewelry Design, which was launched in 2007 after she was inspired by indigenous artisans she met while living in South America. As an environmentally responsible jewelry designer, she recycles the majority of the metals and she believes in conscious consumerism without compromising in beauty and style. She was inspired by working with the female artisans in the region. especially in Argentina, Chile, and Peru.
 
The way they mold and weave their stones is such a powerful, artistic process. She was able to learn about how they are helping their communities by developing their craft. This inspired her to believe that all women have a craft and she really want her jewelry to be symbolic of every woman’s desire to make a difference with her life through her community。She think every company faces challenges that help them develop and really focus in on their mission. I love design, looking for unique shapes, textures, and symbols that will help the customer feel like they are wearing a piece designed especially for them. She has watched her collection evolve from the basic organic look to new, trendy, but thoughtful aesthetics that will hopefully be recognizable with some of the other great jewelry designers. It’s always a work in progress I would say.
