Annapurna Pictures is a film production and distribution company founded by Megan Ellison in 2011. The name Annapurna originates from a Hindu Goddess by the same name, who epitomizes benevolent abundance of nourishment. The feeding mother also has her name on a section of the Himalayas in Nepal. The company's goal is to "produce sophisticated high-quality films that might otherwise be deemed risky by contemporary Hollywood studios". Annapurna also invests in production/financing/sales entity Panorama Media, later renamed Annapurna International.
