Jennifer Hudson has reached yet another milestone in her career. On Wednesday morning, the Grammy Award-winning singer received the 2,512th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her accomplishments in the music industry.

“I guess the first thing I can start by saying is the same thing I said when I won my Academy Award, look what God can do,” Hudson told reporters during her speech in front of the W Hollywood Hotel.

The recognition seemed bittersweet for Jennifer, who fought back tears while she spoke of her late mother, Darnell Donnerson, who was murdered inside her Chicago home back in 2008.

“I knew I would get emotional and I’m sure my mom is in heaven, like, ‘Jenny stop crying,’ but now is the time to cry momma. It is,” she said trying to regain her composure. “God, I don’t know where to start because this is an amazing honor as we all know and I did not see it coming.”

Hudson adds that she did not prepare a speech but adds, “It’s one thing to be in this type of position but it doesn’t mean anything if you can’t make a difference in the world and help someone.  And I always say that every time we go out, we make sure we treat everyone like family. So with that being said, I’m so honored that all of my family is here with me today.”
