The southern menu highlights such pricey Cantonese standards as shark-fin soup, abalone, and sea cucumber at appropriately high prices, but the pristine dim sum—which comes rolling by on carts seven days a week till about 2 p.m.—is cheapness itself. Spring Garden is in a strip mall on Fairview Avenue in Greenport-Hudson area. We had cold sesame noodles (sauce was grey and noodles were unmixed and sitting in pool of soy sauce; topping was shredded iceberg lettuce), beef and scallions (oversalted to the point of inedibility) and shrimp with walnuts (no sign of the promised "creamy" sauce; walnuts tasted of spoiled oil and were carbonized black. This restaurant has been here since the dinosaurs; people like it for its convenient location. Food Sing in Hudson (no delivery) and Red Chopsticks, Hudson (delivery) are both far superior. Spring Garden is a place to avoid.
