How to Get Cheap Las Vegas Hotels

There's no place in the world like Las Vegas, which is why millions flock to Sin City each year. Between an infinite number of casinos, live shows, shopping venues and entertainment, there's never a dull moment. The popularity of Vegas makes some accommodations quite pricey. Luckily there are many ways to procure a hotel stay well below the going rate, starting with booking a trip at the right time and being flexible with where you stay.

Instructions
Know when to go. Avoid Las Vegas during any major holiday, which is when everyone wants to go to Vegas, as these are peak times and the prices of the hotels are quite high. Other high season times include when there are big conventions and also for much of summer, although many people avoid Vegas during late July and August due to the very high heat.

Go to Vegas in late winter and early spring or in mid-fall, before the holiday season starts. Visit during the week, as hotel rates are significantly cheaper than on weekends.

Check hotel websites for promotions. Las Vegas hotels are always running special deals for certain weekends or weekdays when things may be slower than usual. You can find a sweet deal at one of the more expensive hotels you didn't think you could afford with a simple phone call to the front desk. You can also find promotions on the hotel website. The Las Vegas Tourism Bureau provides information on discount rates that hotels are currently offering.

Purchase a package deal. Many online travel companies offer discounts when you purchase airfare and hotel together. Depending on when you go, you can end up with a hotel and airfare package that costs as much as the airfare alone might have cost if purchased separately. Always read the fine print with these types of deals, however, as there may be some blackout dates or other specific restrictions or fees.

Stay off the Strip. Though most the action is along the Las Vegas Strip, this doesn't mean you have to stay at a Strip hotel to enjoy yourself. If you stay just off the Strip or in the downtown area, you can find hotels that are a lot cheaper. Many provide free shuttles to and from the Strip as well.
