Wedding Gifts for Coordinators

Send a gift to your coordinator after the wedding is done.
A wedding coordinator is a person who helps an engaged couple plan every detail of the wedding. She may scout out and book different vendors, give advice and make sure everything runs smoothly on the wedding day. According to The Knot, it's not strictly required that you give a gift to your wedding planner on top of the fee you pay her, but if she did a great job of coordinating your wedding, send her a gift with a thank-you note.

A Tip
  • Don't worry about a check being impersonal. Giving your coordinator a financial gift will allow her to decide what she wants to use the money for, whether buying herself a gift or putting the money toward her business. If she charged a flat fee for her services, give her an additional 10 to 20 percent tip, depending on how pleased you are with her services.
  •
Gift Certificate
  • If you don't have the financial means to give her a 10 to 20 percent tip, or if you'd rather give her something more personal, give her a gift certificate for services at a local spa. You can also give her a certificate from SpaFinder.com. This website allows you to buy a certificate in a certain dollar amount, which she can use at the spa of her choice. SpaFinder certificates can be redeemed at over 5,000 spas worldwide.
  •

Flowers
  • A bouquet of flowers is appropriate as a way of saying thank you to a coordinator who did a good job but didn't necessarily go above and beyond the call of duty. Choose a bouquet of dark pink roses, which symbolize gratitude, or choose irises or yellow roses. Both of these flowers symbolize friendship.
  •
Jewelry
  • If you became close to your coordinator, choose a piece of jewelry. This is a more personal gift and is a token of friendship. Don't buy anything overly personal, like a heart-shaped locket. Unless she has a very clear personal style, choose something classic and understated like a simple pendant necklace with a small diamond or jewel on it.
  •
A Letter
  • This gift is free, but will be very appreciated by the coordinator, especially if she has an office. Write her a one-page letter of gratitude on nice stationary. Be sure to use legible handwriting. Because wedding planning is a business based on good word-of-mouth, if you write a letter than she can frame and hang in her office, this gift can help her get more business from brides in the future who might be interviewing her. Be clear about all the skills she has and the special things she did that made your wedding wonderful.
