Revolution LLC is an investment firm. Revolution claims to target "innovative technologies and disruptive ideas that have the potential to reinvent traditional consumer markets." Launched by AOL founder Steve Case, Donn Davis, and Tige Savage in 2005 and based in Washington, D.C., Revolution is composed of three separate entities – Revolution Ventures, Revolution Growth, and Revolution Places. Steve Case
Revolution LLC was founded in 2005 by Steve Case, a well-known entrepreneur and a co-founder of America Online (AOL), the first Internet company in the world to go public along with Donn Davis and Tige Savage. Case co-founded AOL in 1985 when the Internet was in its infancy. In 1999, Case negotiated the merger of AOL and Time Warner, a transaction that today remains the largest merger in business history. AOL Time Warner floundered, however, and Case resigned from his post in January 2003, with the merger often cited as one of worst mergers ever. Case remained on the AOL-Time Warner board after his resignation, but in 2005 he moved on from that as well to found Revolution LLC.

Revolution operates three divisions, which support different stages and specialties of companies. The three core Revolution operating units are: - Revolution Ventures, an early-stage technology investment firm making investments of less than $10M - Revolution Growth, a hands-on growth stage investment firm focused on technology enabled consumer businesses with a fund of $450M raised in 2011 that makes investments of $10M and higher. They typically only invest in 2-3 new companies per year and looks for companies outside Silicon Valley - Revolution Places, a real estate and hospitality investment firm fostering healthy lifestyles that makes investments in the range of $25–50M. It is usually the majority shareholder in each portfolio company.
