The covenant marriage of Supriya and Bobby Jindal is based on not only their love for one another, but their common goals even though they have different likes and personalities.

Supriya and Bobby met in high school but didn't date because her family was moving.

"On their first date, Bobby invited her to a ball put on by his boss, Gov. Mike Foster. On their second date, they had dinner at Bella Luna in the French Quarter and went on a riverboat cruise. The next day, they took a ride up River Road.Within a few months, they were engaged."

Bobby and Supriya were married on October 18, 1997 at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They held their wedding reception at the governor's mansion.

Supriya and Bobby have a covenant marriage.

“This is a commitment that Supriya and I decided to make with each other before any laws were passed. Our church had similar counseling provisions in place before the Legislature passed the law. We entered into this commitment understanding the seriousness of marital vows and we continue and will always have great respect for this sacred institution."

“Most importantly though, I’m the luckiest guy in the world because I got to marry a smart and beautiful woman that I first fell in love with in high school.”

Supriya: "He [Bobby] tells me years later that he had a crush on me in high school. He would find out where my classes were and follow me. Hang out by my locker, that kind of stuff."
