The John A. Moran Eye Center is located on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is part of the University of Utah Health Care system. The Moran Eye Center's annual research grants from theNational Institutes of Health exceeded $6.5 million in 2005, placing it eighth in the nation for NIH grants. The center has over 40 faculty members and more than 350 staff members.

The Moran Eye Center is the result of a $3,500,000 donation from University of Utah alumnus John A. Moran, which became the foundation of a further fundraising effort involving patients, friends of the University, and benevolent organizations.

The John A. Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City, Utah operates 12 locations, with 8 distinct optical shops located throughout Utah. More than 50 Salt Lake City eye physicians and optometrists practice at the Moran Eye Center, which boasts one of the premier retinal research groups in the world. Moran physicians and researchers currently conduct 50 active clinical trials each year, comprised of more than 2,700 clinical visits. The National Institute of Health (NIH) annually grants The Moran Eye Center in excess of $10 million, placing it among the top research teams receiving NIH grants.

The goal of the Moran Eye Center is that "no person with a blinding condition, eye disease, or visual impairment should be without hope, understanding, and treatment."
