Goleta is a city in southern Santa Barbara County, California, USA. Goleta is a suburb that has largely avoided the suburban sprawl that characterizes other parts of southern California. Nearby Santa Barbara tends to attract tourists and houses most of the area's residents.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 26.4 square miles (68 km2), of which 26.3 square miles (68 km2) are land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) (0.38%) is water.

The University of California Santa Barbara is the major center of economic activity in the area, both directly and through the numerous associated service industry activities which exist for the staff and students.

The 2010 United States Census reported that Goleta had a population of 29,888. The population density was 3,747.9 people per square mile (1,447.1/km²).
