Milton School serves students from kindergarten through fifth grade. The school is located in the lovely Sound Shore community of Rye, New York approximately 25 miles north of New York City. The school and community are steeped in a rich historical and cultural tradition. Milton was the first mainland area of Rye to be settled. The Coes, Studwells, Disbrows, and Budds were the original settlers of the early Milton community of the 1660's and 1670's. The Timothy Knapp House, located at the corner of Milton Road and Rye Beach Avenue, was the site of the original Thomas Studwell dwelling.
Milton School is known for its rigorous academic program within a warm, nurturing, environment. Visitors to the school often comment on the friendly, caring ambience they experience as they meet our students, faculty, staff and parents. Our school philosophy centers on respect for oneself, peers, learning and the school environment.
On October 5, 2003 Milton School was awarded a second Blue Ribbon for academic excellence based on the performance of our students in reading and math.
