Your performance on the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) determines your GACE score. In order to work as an educator in Georgia, you must take the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) test in order to demonstrate that you possess the necessary knowledge and skills. The GACE tests state and national education standards.
The GACE exists in two formats—paper and computer.
●You can register for the computer-based test during six-day windows. In addition, this test is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
●Once you select which type of testing format is right for you, see the charts below to find out test dates, registration deadlines, and when your GACE scores will be available.
Different assessments exist in order to meet different needs.
Various testing areas include:
●Basic skills
●Professional pedagogy
●Paraprofessional
●Educational leadership.
●In addition, GACE offers 41 different content assessments.
●The following website can help you determine the specific parameters of the tests you wish to take: http://www.gace.nesinc.com/GA7_testselection.asp.
In order to take the GACE and receive a GACE score, first you must select either a morning or afternoon testing time, or both. All test sessions take four hours, except the Paraprofessional test, which takes three hours. Each assessment includes multiple tests. While the specific tests within the overall GACE assessment are untimed, you must complete all the tests within the overall assessment by the end of the testing session (either morning or afternoon). This structure allows you to work at your own pace.
