Live in Las Vegas in March
LA times | 2014-02-26 14:00

Coming to Las Vegas means being exposed to world-class entertainment, and with a ton of concert venues, there's always someone huge playing on weekends. Despite the number of megaclubs with superstar DJs, there's plenty of live music to be heard in town, with nary a turntable in sight. Here are our top picks for the next month.

Miley Cyrus, March 1

The Wrecking Ball herself headlines at MGM Grand Garden Arena this Saturday as part of her Bangerz Tour. The image she's created for herself becomes larger than life on stage for this show, including giant bear costumes, requisite twerking, and of course, her ubiquitous tongue. Much like everything else Miley does, you just have to see it to believe it. She's already told us she won't stop. 8 p.m., $63.50-$93.50, ticketmaster.com

Tool, March 15

The Axis Theater at Planet Hollwyood may be home to Britney Spears' Piece of Me resident show on some nights, but on March 15, the theater belongs to Tool. The Grammy Award-winning rock band is the first touring act to perform in the 7,000-seat show room. Their concerts are legendary, visually stunning and stark, and never performed the same way twice. 8 p.m., $85, planethollywoodresort.com

Lady Antebellum, March 21

Despite the name of the tour saying otherwise, Lady Antebellum's Take Me Downtown Tour is held in the massive Mandalay Bay Events Center rather than, say, Las Vegas' Fremont Street Experience. No matter, because the seven-time Grammy Award-winning country trio puts on a fun, energetic show wherever they are, performing hits such as American Honey, Our Kind of Love and Need You Now. 8 p.m., $40-$90, mandalaybay.com

Reverend Horton Heat, March 28

The rockabilly reverend is alive and well. The trio that puts on some of the craziest rock shows that combine country, surf, punk, big band and swing come to Vinyl, with special guests T.S.O.L and Deke Dickerson. 8:30 p.m., $25, hardrockhotel.com

Il Divo, March 29

Opera and pop collide in what might be the best grown-up boy band ever. The four singers of Il Divo combine classic singing technique with contemporary songs, and their latest tour brings in music from the stage: A Musical Affair: The Greatest Songs of Broadway Live. In support of their sixth studio album of the same name, the singers perform their versions of beloved hits from shows such as Phantom of the Opera, Carousel and West Side Story. 8 p.m., $49.50-$129.50, mandalayb
