Ole South Properties is Tennessee's largest, independently-owned homebuilder. Owner John Floyd started his career in real estate at the age of 23, buying rental property as an investment. As landlord he not only provided a roof for tenants, but experienced first-hand how providing a quality home is not just the right thing to do, but also a good business model.
Since it's inception in 1986, Ole South Properties has been dedicated to providing quality and affordable homes to families in Rutherford County. By 1990 Ole South Properties had built and sold 100 homes. Today, after 22 years of success, Ole South Properties has matured into middle Tennessee's top home builder with 16 active communities throughout the Nashville area. The company employees more than 25 people at its Murfreesboro headquarters.
Ole South Today
Currently, Ole South offers a range of products to meet the needs of this fast-growing community.
Townhomes provide affordable, low-maintenance options for the active lifestyle.
Affordable single-family homes offer standard amenities that most builders consider upgrades.
Larger step-up homes allow growing families the space to spread out and the amenities to help manage a busy life.
All Ole South homes are designed to be energy efficient according to TVA's Energy Right® program guidelines. Making this investment on the front end allows the value of an Ole South home to continue after closing. In fact, for ten years in a row, TVA has recognized Ole South Properties as the largest Energy Right® independent builder within the seven-state region that it serves.
Awards
Floyd and Ole South Properties have been the recipient of nearly 50 awards for home building excellence. In 2008, Floyd was honored as the Nashville Business Journal's Entrepreneur of the Year and the Rutherford County Homebuilders Association named Floyd Home Builder of the Year. Just a few months before, Floyd was named Tennessee Home Builder of the Year by the Home Builders Association of Tennessee.
Ole South and the Community
Ole South Properties is dedicated to the communities where they build. With the creation of the John Floyd Charitable Foundation, more than $1 million in financial, material and labor support has been given to various organizations in Rutherford County.
Recently Floyd, in partnership with the Rutherford County Home Builders Association, led an effort to renew the building trades vocational program at Oakland High School in Rutherford County. Floyd supplied materials, labor and political motivation to a project designed to replenish the skilled labor workforce in middle Tennessee.
The Future
The future is bright for Ole South. After so many years, Floyd has not lost his work ethic or his drive to produce even better communities for Ole South buyers. New communities will offer even more features, such as walking trails, playgrounds and other recreational amenities, while the homes will continue to advance to meet the needs of today's homebuyers.
