CareFree Homes was started by El Paso native George D. Thomas. After graduating from UTEP, George built a home for his growing family. His friends were impressed with his design and construction and started asking him to build homes for them. He always maximized use of floor space and worked hard to build attractive homes, done with the best quality at affordable prices.
George made the dream of homeownership a reality for thousands of families. He was instrumental in providing quality, attractive homes that El Paso families could afford. George was always questioning preconceived notions about home design, and his answers to those questions produced homes with innovative design features. His designs were unique – and have withstood the test of time. As a tribute to George, many of his designs and concepts have been used by numerous builders in El Paso.
George was a generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who wanted to learn about homebuilding. He had a passion for homebuilding and a tremendous desire to share his knowledge and passion with others. With his extraordinary talent and spirit, he made a lasting contribution to the El Paso community. After George passed away, his wife Sally provided steady leadership at CareFree Homes.
George was, above all, a man of his word. Integrity and honesty were the cornerstones of his business, so he set the highest standards. His commitment was the foundation upon which CareFree Homes was built and that commitment to the highest values guides us to this day.
