1985 - Aiken, SC: Karl Haslinger, owner and CEO, began building custom homes in this beautiful Southern town, one by one. He decided that homebuilding was indeed the path his life was meant to follow. 1993 - Columbia, SC: Karl founded Essex Homes Southeast, Inc., in Columbia, building approximately 25 homes per year. 2009 - Charlotte, NC: Started construction for the first house in the Charlotte, NC market. Present : Essex Homes will be welcoming over 500 families into the Essex family this year between the Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC markets.  Essex will be building over 600 homes this year while maintaining much of their custom heritage as seen in the large number of original designs and the quality manner in whichtheirnew homes are built. The corporate office located in Lexington, South Carolina houses all departments from drafting to sales, including the Essex Design Studio.  It is currently being renovated to house new cabinetry and lighting and is a 3,000 square foot showroom of home features and ideas all under one roof.  The central location and the vast array of choices offer convenience and customization to our homebuyers.  Our Charlotte office is conveniently located off Carowinds Boulevard and has doubled the number of employees in the past two years.  Currently, we are working on a new Design Studio offering the highest in technology and personal selections.  Repeat occurrences in Fast Track of Builder Magazine and numerous awards such as Builder of the Year have proven that Essex Homes is a leader in the new homebuilding industry. A customer service satisfaction rate of 96% has been one of Karl's and Essex Homes' greatest achievements thus far.
