哈佛的革命传统
    哈佛校历史图片展览和纪念品中，每一件文物都有一则动人故事。有历史的沉淀，有时代的印记。引起我兴 趣的是哈佛也讲“革命传统”。因为在1775—1783年这8年中，北美爆发了反对英国殖民统治的独立战争。而哈佛人追随革命洪流，几乎所有著名的革命者都是哈佛当年的毕业生。如美国《独立宣言》起草人之一、美国第二任总统约翰•亚当斯1755年毕业于哈佛。1775年7月3日，乔治•华盛顿在哈佛学院所在地坎布里奇就任北美独立战争军队的统帅，其司令部也曾设在这里。而美国第三任总统、《独立宣言》主要起草人托马斯•杰弗逊和美国联邦最高法院首任首席大法官约翰•杰伊等人均荣获哈佛荣誉法学博士学位。

    此曲创作于1836年（哈佛200年校庆），作者是哈佛校友1811届的Samuel Gilman。
