Taylor Swift might have attacked her ex-boyfriend John Mayer through her music, but has the I Knew You Were Trouble star forgiven the lothario, as the couple have reported to have got "close" at a recent afterparty for the Country Music Awards in Los Angeles, where they both performed.

The couple, who dated briefly between 2009 and 2010, reportedly made a beeline for each other at an afterparty for the award show and were deep in conversation with each other for most of the night, with Mayer spotted touching her waist, sources claim.

“They snuck off to a corner and were all over each other,” a source told Grazia magazine. “At one point he had her hands on his knees, with him holding her waist – they were deep in conversation.”

The reconcilliation comes months after Mayer admitted he'd treated girls badly in the past. The lothatrio, who recently split with latest Hollywood conquest Katy Perry, said of his past romances.

"I was just a jerk," the 'Born and Raised' singer admitted in a sit-down interview with CBS Sunday Morning, set to air on Sunday, February 10.

Taylor's track Dear John is allegedly about her brief fling with the rocker, in which she hints he broke her heart.

One lyric said: “Dear John, I see it all now it was wrong/ Don’t you think 19’s too young to be played with?/ Your dark twisted games when I loved you so.”

In response to the break up ballad, Mayer attacked his former squeeze, claiming he "didn't deserve it".

"It made me feel terrible," he told Rolling Stone magazine, "because I didn't deserve it."

"Dear John is cheap songwriting," he added. "It's abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, 'Wait til he gets a load of this!' That's bulls--t."

But clearly all has been forgiven, if Grazia's "insider" is to be believed.
