Representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart, both from Florida, have asked the Treasury Department for more information on the type of license the famous couple obtained for their Havana holiday, Reuters reports.

“Despite the clear prohibition against tourism in Cuba, numerous press reports described the couple’s trip as tourism, and the Castro regime touted it as such in its propaganda,” read the letter.

According to the AP and numerous photos from the trip, Jay and Bey took in the sights, sounds, and tastes of Cuba. On Wednesday night, the couple and their mothers enjoyed dinner at the tourist-favorite La Guardia restaurant, while on Thursday — the day of their anniversary — Jay strolled around puffing cigars while Beyoncé posed for pictures with the local youths.

It’s this type of activity that worries the hyphenated politicians Ros-Lehtinen and Diaz-Balart, who point out that the U.S. currently has a longstanding embargo against citizens visiting Cuba purely as tourists. (Licenses can only be approved and issued for academic, religious, journalistic, or cultural exchange purposes.)

The power couple would likely fall under the cultural category, but the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets has told the AP that it doesn’t comment on individual cases.
