The couple are said to have first met at an Oscar party last year and took their romance public in April, when John visited her on the set of her film Marley & Me in Florida. They split up briefly over the summer but reconciled at the end of September, and recent rumours have pointed to an imminient engagement for the pair. However, sources close to both parties have now confirmed they’ve gone their separate ways instead.
 
One source close to the former Friends star explained: “It was a big deal that they went to the Oscars together [last month], possibly too big. It kicked up a lot of emotions and ‘where are we going’ discussion.
 
“Then John headed straight into the recording studio to work on his new album and Jennifer disappeared to Europe to promote her film before they had a chance to talk about it fully.”
 
A second source added: “He broke up with her when she got back from her European tour. They had some disagreements and decided to not continue to see each other.
 
“Jen is moving on with her life like she always does. She seems happy.”
 
Spokespeople for the couple have refused to comment on the new rumours, saying they do not comment on their clients’ private lives.
