Game over ... again: Despite giving their love a second chance, Cameron Diaz and Alex Rodriguez have struck out. The actress and the Yankees slugger 'broke up recently,' a source close to Rodriguez told Us Weekly. The couple, who began dating in February 2010, blame their work ethic for the split.

Professional baseball player Alex Rodriguez came into the public, non-sporting eye after he was rumoured to have cheated on his then-wife with pop queen Madonna. Shortly afterwards he was linked to Kate Hudson, but rumours of a fling between him and Cameron Diaz started in mid-2010. The pair denied a romantic link for a long time, with Cameron stating in an interview: "No, no, no… I want to have a relationship with myself right now,” and also mentioning that she doesn’t ‘believe in’ monogamy. In late 2010, however, pictures surfaced of the couple vacationing with A-Rod’s children, and in early 2011 Cameron stopped denying their romance. Phew!
 
Cameron Diaz and A-Rod started dating in February 2010 and hit their first bumps in the road in June 2011. They made up shortly after that before calling it quits for good in September 2011. Will they get back together again? Well, Diaz was reportedly dating Diddy in 2012 so perhaps not.
