USINFO | 2013-12-23 23:36

The largest Halloween street party in the world happens in West Hollywood. Each year, on October 31st, nearly 500,000 people take to the streets of Santa Monica Boulevard to enjoy the craziest, most eccentric costume creations ever at the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval. Visitors can expect fantastic live entertainment and food vendors all along Santa Monica Blvd. One of the night’s highlights is the crowning of an Honorary “Queen of the Carnaval” — the City of West Hollywood is excited to announce that Queen Latifah will be receiving the 2013 title! Admission is free and the event starts at 6 PM and runs until 11 PM.

The Carnaval is obviously the main event and draw, but several of the hotels, bars and lounges in West Hollywood hold events the weekend and days leading up to the official holiday.

Live Acts and Performers
The theme for the 2013 Halloween Carnaval is One Noir Night in West Hollywood and it will  feature 6 stages and over 50 performers. If you didn’t know it already, 1950′s Noir was an epic era in West Hollywood. This famous era will be resurrected at the West Hollywood Carnaval with a humorous twist. Speakeasy stage (at Almont Dr.): West Hollywood Carnaval legend, Momma, will emcee. Performers include, 1950′s crooner Lynda Kay, singer/songwriter duo Better Off Blonde and smooth noir jazz from The Toledo Show.

Pulp Friction stage (at West Knoll Dr.): Coco Peru plays Nightclub Chanteuse in Drag. Performers include, Gavin Turek, contemporary burlesque dance troupe Velvet Martini, DJ Zen Freeman and other guest DJs.

Three more stages will serve to encourage audience interaction. TheCaper Club stage (at Westbourne Dr.) will feature emcee Peter Giovine and DJ Moses Truzman. The Ant’s Asylum stage (at North Palm Dr.) will feature emcee Ant and DJ Max Von Ville. The Hooligans Hall stage (at North La Peer Dr.) will feature DJ Aaron Colbert.
