Making an good impression with an elegant appearance is crucial in Japan.

And Keanu Reeves certainly cleaned up well as he attended a press conference for his film 47 Ronin in Tokyo in a smart grey suit on Monday.

The Matrix actor cut a dapper figure as he posed alongside his co-stars in the dark grey suit, matching shirt and an iridescent, peacock-green tie.

He wore his flowing hair slicked back for a debonair look, while his facial hair was neatly trimmed.

Adding an edge to his formal look, he opted for tan-coloured loafer shoes with a fashionable distressed feel.

A day earlier the star had opted for a smart-casual outfit while signing autographs, wearing scruffy jeans, a sweater, a blazer and a baseball hat worn backwards.

The star looked like he was having a whale of a time mingling with fans at the Narita International Airport in the Chiba Prefecture.

Keanu is a huge hero in Japan, and is no doubt more popular than ever after starring in forthcoming samurai picture 47 Ronin, in which he plays a half Japanese half British swordsman.

It is his second silver screen soiree into the orient in the past year, as he also starred in and directed Man Of Tai Chi, which is tipped to become a classic of martial arts cinema.

The actor played wicked mogul Donaka Mark, who attempts to corrupt the movie's hero Tiger Chen Linhu into abandoning the Chinese martial art's peaceful ways.

Perhaps more excitingly for fans of the canny Canadian, he is gearing up to appear on the screen once again as Ted Theodore Logan.

A number of scripts for his reappearance as his most memorable character have already been drafted, and it is rumoured the film will be released in either 2014 or 2015.
