Say goodbye to Elena Gilbert, and hello to Subject 83182.

When The Vampire Diaries returns for its mid-season finale (Season 5, Episode 10: “Fifty Shades of Grayson”), Elena is Dr. Wes’ new experiment, and judging from this disturbing new sneak peek (viaTVFanatic.com), things are about to get creepy. Will the Salvatore bros come to the rescue before Dr. Wes makes his first incision?

The synopsis for the episode teased that Dr. Wes is going to let out his “secret weapon” — which we’re pretty sure is Enzo, who is most likely the Augustine Vampire that killed Elena and Caroline’s roommate, Meghan. But what does Dr. Wes want with Elena? Does he want to turn her into another one of his vampire-blood-sucking vamps? Or will he try to do something else? After all, Grayson Gilbert was Dr. Wes's mentor. Would he really torture his daughter,, vampire or not?

Meanwhile, Stefan is going to confront Aaron (Shaun Sipos) about Elena's whereabouts. We know we should be worried about Elena, but we're pretty sure Aaron is the one most likely to die in this episode, given Stefan’s past and the terrifying lengths we know he’ll go to make sure Elena is safe. He's ready to kill.
