After nine seasons, the hit comedy series will come to a close on March 31, 2014 on CBS.

Audiences will finally find out exactly how Ted Mosby met his wife in early spring 2014.

Over a total of 208 episodes, the comedy has used flashbacks to narrate the long chain of events leading up to the decisive meeting. Josh Radnor portrays the somewhat awkward architect, surrounded by his friends Marshall, Lily, Robin and Barney.

The spirit of "How I Met Your Mother" will live on beyond the final episode in "How I Met Your Dad." CBS has greenlighted this spin-off, in which a woman will narrate the story of her first encounter with the father of her children. The new series is expected to reference some of the places -- and possibly even the characters -- seen in the original show.
