Philadelphia’s first minority-owned and operated bus company officially launched in Chinatown late last week during a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring local politicians and business leaders.

STSC Transportation Services is now offering eight daily roundtrip bus rides between Philadelphia and New York City, priced at a flat rate of $12 each way.

The company will by the end of July extend service to Washington, D.C., and Boston, and plans to in September add stops in eight more major cities.

“We’re so excited to begin operation here in Philadelphia,” STSC owner Jeremy Walker said in a statement.

“Philadelphia is in the center of two major cities, which provides the perfect location for our affordable and customer friendly bus services.”

Walker said STSC Transportation has already created more than 40 new jobs and looks forward to “investing more money in our local communities” as the company expands.

Trains depart every three hours from 115 N. 9th St. in Philadelphia’s Chinatown and transport passengers to 11 Allen St. in Manhattan’s Chinatown.

Tickets can be purchased seven days a week between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. at STSC’s North 9th Street ticketing office or from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the New York City Allen Street location.

STSC will from July 8 through August 31 be running a promotional offer, selling $12 one-way tickets at a $2 discount.
