Bruce Lee’s Legacy lives on as the SF Giants host a tribute night for him on the 40th Anniversary of “Enter the Dragon”. In his honor, Linda Lee Cadwell (Bruce Lee’s widowed wife), Shannon Lee (Bruce’s daughter), and Wren Lee Keasler (Bruce’s granddaughter) made their second appearance at AT&T Park while the SF Giants hosted the Toronto Blue Jays for an inter-league game on June 4.

On the field Dancel’s Academy of Taekwondo San Bruno made a special martial arts presentation with some of the students dressing up as Bruce Lee’s cast of characters in his movies.

Linda Lee Cadwell and Wren Lee Keasler accepted a $10,000 check for the Bruce Lee Foundation. Linda Lee Cadwell said that there is still a long way to go in raising funds and that it will be years before the Bruce Lee Action Museum can be built. Daughter, Shannon Lee, sang the National Anthem as Wren Lee Keasler had the privilege of throwing out the first pitch.

Fans for this special event that purchased Bruce Lee event tickets received a commemorative Bruce Lee figurine. Last year for the 1stBruce Lee Tribute Night, fans received a Bruce Lee bobblehead and for a higher premium some fans received a different variation of the bobblehead.

Tensions were high on Bruce Lee Tribute Night as the Toronto Blue Jays came to play for a short 2-game series. The last time that the SF Giants met with the Blue Jays was back in May with the Blue Jays sweeping the Giants in a 2-game series in Toronto. The Jays dominated both games with Giants falling to them 10-6 and 11-3.

Bruce Lee Tribute Night was the first time that Melky Cabrera set foot back in AT&T Park as he was let go by the team the previous year. Manager Bruce Bochy told media before the game that Melky contributed greatly to the 2012 season, but he’s moved on from the incident that didn’t allow him to come back as a Giant. He went on further to say that players shouldn’t be worried about him and that their focus should be on the game.

San Francisco’s only scoring came in the bottom of the 2nd Inning when Andres Torres hit a 2-run home run, his second home run of the year, off of Josh Johnson on a 1-1 pitch over the center field wall.

Both starting pitchers did great. Josh Johnson [TOR (0-2)] pitched 97 pitches in 7 quality innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits with five strikeouts. Tim Lincecum [SF (4-5)] went on to throw 7 great innings, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with six strikeouts. Great support came from Jeremy Affeldt who pitched a total of 5 pitches in a quick 8th Inning and Sergio Romo closed out the game with his 16th save of the season, which ranks third most in the NL.

Bruce Lee Tribute Night ended with the Giants winning 2-1 with the game time being 2hrs 16mins. The Giants have sold out their 196th consecutive regular season games, the longest active streak in the Majors. In a post-game wrap up Bochy told the media that Tim Lincecum is becoming a more confident pitcher. His pitches are better and more crisp. It’s the big innings that hurt. Lincecum is more consistent this year. Bochy stated that when Cabrera was at bat in the 9th he was not worried and had confidence in Romo’s ability to close the game. Even with his confidence, Bochy said that Melky is a good hitter, he swung the bat very good. What great words coming from a manager about an ex-team player. Hopefully Bochy’s encouragement will spread throughout the ball club and will lead the Giants to another great season.

Not knowing what to expect from the fans, when Melky Cabrera’s name was announced to start the top of the batting order fans did not greet him with thankfulness and kindness for a great season with the Giants, but instead a loud abrupt booing ensued. In response to the negative attention Cabrera hits a single up the middle. Cabrera went on to hit 2 for 4.

Toronto’s only scoring of the game came in the top of the 1st by Edwin Encarnacion after the bases were cleared from a double play ball that Jose Bautista into that got both him and Cabrera out. Encarnacion hit his solo home run to center field off Tim Lincecum on a 1-0 count pitch. It is his 17th home run of the year.
