dealer school

Here is Las Vegas you need to go to dealer school first, then start at the smaller casinos and work your way up to the nicer ones. Getting a different job at a casino and waiting for them to send you to dealer school won't cut it. Like the previous poster said, dealer school can take 8 weeks or more depending on the games you learn. When you first start out, you will be in a small casino with low limit tables working the swing or crappy (graveyard or weekday morning) shifts. All dealer everywhere make minimum wage plus tips, so you'll be making about $6 an hour.
It takes at least 6 months to get into the strip casinos where the real money is, but could take as much as a couple of years. Once you get there though, there's quite a bit of money in dealing. The average strip dealer probably makes $40-50k a year, with the evening and weekend workers at a place like Bellagio making $100k and up. Do not expect to get to that level for many years though.Oh yeah, and if you can't pass a background or credit check, don't bother. A criminal record of a low credit score will be an automatic red flag and you won't get hired anywhere.
