YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Convicted serial killer Anthony Sowell has been moved to the Ohio State Penitentiary in Youngstown and placed on death row, according to a spokeswoman at the Lorain County correctional facility.

This is the first time in nearly two years that Sowell had been moved from holding at the Cuyahoga County jail.

He was processed through the Lorain County Correctional facility earlier in the day, and then moved to Youngstown.

Sowell, 52, had been in county jail for the duration of his trial, but was transferred to a maximum security prison after the additional rape charges against him were dropped on Monday.

Sowell was convicted of killing 11 women and burying their bodies in and around his Imperial Avenue home. Judge Dick Ambrose sentenced Sowell to death for the murders.
