Seamus was the Romney family dog, and in 1983 he was placed into his dog carrier and onto the roof of the Romney family car for a 12-hour drive to the Romney family vacation home on Lake Huron, according to the Boston Globe.

According to Time, the dog ended up relieving himself on the roof.
But really, where else was he going to go?

Both the ASPCA and PETA told Time that putting a dog on the roof isn't really the way to travel.
