about us :
American Metro Bank (AMB) is a certified minority financial institution under the Department of the Treasury, Financial Management Service's (FMS) Minority Bank Deposit Program (MBDP) as well as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). We are continually expanding our renowned superb customer service and multilingual staff to better suit your evolving needs.

AMB was established with the opening of its headquarters on 17 February 1997 by a group of local community leaders who wanted a bank that understood the area; though they always had ambitions for it to expand to embrace all of metropolitan Chicago.
AMB opened its Chinatown Branch on April 1, 2002. With this expansion, AMB was then able to serve the Chinatown area in addition to Uptown, Edgewater, Rogers Park, New Chinatown and the surrounding neighborhoods.
The Fullerton Branch opened in June 2006 on Chicago's NorthWest Side, affording AMB the opportunity to outreach to a wider range of underserved clientele in the Belmont-Cragin area.
As a community bank, it is the Bank’s goal to maximize the customers’ resources and returns, safeguard their savings and reinvest in their communities. The bank strives to serve the previously un-banked population.
In keeping with its mission, AMB was the first Asian bank to become authorized by the Department of the Treasury to act as a “Certifying Acceptance Agent”. As such, AMB is able to process Individual Tax Identification Numbers for immigrants who do not have traditional documentation to open interest- bearing accounts at the bank and to file income taxes for tax compliance purpose. The Bank also sponsors consumer education workshops and specialized programs to assist Chicagoland’s underserved populations.
