First Independence Corp. is the savings and loan holding company of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Independence (First Federal), a federally chartered stock savings and loan association originally organized in 1905. First Federal is a community-oriented financial institution offering a variety of financial services to meet the needs of the communities it serves, such as originating loans. The Company also invests in mortgage-backed securities that are insured by or guaranteed by federal agencies and other investment securities. Through its offices in Independence, Coffeyville and Neodesha, Kansas, the Company serves primarily Montgomery and Wilson Counties, Kansas, and, to a lesser extent, the eastern part of Chautauqua County, Kansas. The Company also originates construction loans in Douglas County, Kansas, through a loan production office in Lawrence, Kansas.

First Independence Corp. is a federally-chartered stock savings and loan association serving Montgomery, Crawford, and Wilson counties and the eastern part of Chautauqua County in Kansas. The bank attracts deposits from the general public and uses such deposits, together with borrowings and other funds, to originate one-to-four family residential mortgage loans. To a much lesser extent, the bank also originates loans secured by multi-family real estate and construction loans. The bank also invests in mortgage-backed securities which are insured by or guaranteed by federal agencies, in securities issued by the U.S. government or agencies thereof and in other investment securities.
