About Us
When Falcon’s current owners acquired the bank in 1995, it had a staff of 20 and assets of $52 million. Today, with the benefit of steady leadership, talented employees and a loyal clientele, Falcon is proud to have almost 300 dedicated bankers on its team, in addition to assets in excess of $825 million and fifteen branches located in Laredo, San Antonio, McAllen, Brownsville, Eagle Pass, Del Rio and Buda, with a Loan Production Office (LPO) in Harlingen as well as representative offices in Monterrey and Guadalajara, Mexico. In 2012, Falcon continues to rank among the top 100 of the Hispanic Business Magazine annual Hispanic 500 directory, which lists the 500 largest Hispanic-owned businesses in the U.S.

Falcon attributes its success largely to being a family-owned business—and, thus, a business that values and cultivates a familial atmosphere in its staff and customers. Our philosophy is simple: Faith, Family and Falcon. And it began with one man.

The late Hugo Gutierrez, Sr., a trusted, longtime Laredo businessman, headed his family’s far-sighted investment in 1995, when they purchased a majority interest in then Falcon National Bank. Mr. Gutierrez Sr. contributed his invaluable business experience to his new role as Chairman of the bank’s Board of Directors, with his sons, Hugo Jr. and Adolfo, joining him on the board. Adolfo also became the bank’s President and CEO, a position he held for nearly a dozen years. In that time, Mr. Gutierrez Sr.’s business savvy and devotion to family created a business model that still guides Falcon throughout its growth.

Today, Gilbert Narvaez, Jr., an integral part of Falcon since 1990, serves as President and COO, and after decades of treasured business advice from his father, Adolfo serves as Falcon’s Chairman of the Board and CEO. Mr. Narvaez, Jr., John J. Hill, Hugo A. Gutierrez, Jr., Ray A. Gonzales, Eduardo Garza-Robles, and Pablo Villanueva also add their banking and business expertise to Falcon’s Board of Directors.

At Falcon, we know what counts with our customers: personalized service, attention to detail and genuine commitment to helping our customers achieve their dreams. For the last fifteen years, the bank has earned a place on the coveted Hispanic Business 500 directory, along with feature articles such publications as American Banker, San Antonio Express News, Laredo Morning Times and Independent Banker, among others.

Our reputation for superior service has allowed us to widen our niche market, and today we provide quality banking to more people than ever. Our growth has also allowed us to immerse ourselves in bettering many communities, not just one. Falcon team members are active participants, contributors and board members of dozens of civic and charity organizations, including but not (even remotely) limited to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, March of Dimes, Susan B. Komen Foundation, Junior Achievement, Leadership Laredo, S.T.A.R.S., Rotary Clubs, Habitat for Humanity and Goodwill.

Falcon International Bank is proud to be a part of the culture and history of South Texas, and, through branch expansion, product innovation and community involvement, we look forward to further serving the needs of its dynamic residents.
