You know those in-game NBA commercials, especially on nationally telecasts, where it states, “The Thunder cares about its community.”

Well, cue this story up for the next edition.

Vanity Perkins, the wife of OKC center Kendrick Perkins, has agreed to pay all expenses (dress, hair, makeup and transportation) for five Douglass students to go to the prom.

News 9 first reported on the story here and in the video above.

Rather than a random selection process, Perkins had the Douglass seniors submit an essay explaining their toughest obstacle in high school and how they overcame it. Jae’ Briana Staten was one of the five to get selected.

“All of this was going to be hard for my mom, you know,” Staten told the station. “I am so thankful right now cause this is like it never would have been. I’m just so grateful.”

And, according to his wife, Kendrick Perkins was well-aware of the good deed.

“Kendrick loves it,” Vanity told News 9. “He knows I’m all about beautiful. I told him what I wanted to do, and he thought it was perfect.”
