Pop stars Ariana Grande and Nathan Sykes have decided to call time on their relationship.

The couple, who went public with their romance in September after releasing their duet Almost Is Never Enough,  broke up a few weeks ago as their relationship had run its course.

A source told UsMagazine.com: ‘They just weren't into it anymore.’

The 20-year-old The Way hitmaker previously gushed about the amazing The Wanted singer, 20, and recently insisted it wasn't ‘tough’  for them to spend time together despite their busy schedules.

She told the February 2014 issue of Teen Vogue: ‘It's not as tough as people would think. We have the same music manager, so we can see each other's schedules and plan little trips as often as we can.’

But a source close to Nathan said they ‘hardly ever saw each other’  and are currently on a break.

The news comes after the Nickelodeon star hinted all was not well between them last week during a radio interview with Florida's 93.3 FLZ.

When asked about their relationship, she said: ‘You're a little behind. We're really good friends.'

Ariana and Nathan were first romantically linked in August after they recorded the duet Almost Is Never Enough for the Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones soundtrack, before confirming their relationship on Twitter the following month.

Their romance caused controversy when Ariana's ex-boyfriend, Australian comedian Jai Brooks, accused her of cheating on him with Nathan, which she vehemently denied.

She blasted him on Twitter, writing: 'I guess I shouldn't be so surprised. You said to me if I didn't come back to you, you'd make me look bad to the entire world...I'm no longer afraid of you or your lies anymore.'

Ariana and Nathan were spotted several times together over the fall, including a dinner date in London in early November and a hugging session in late August in New York City.

They cuddled up three weeks ago after Ariana performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

The Wanted star was with Ariana's mother and brother for the parade and they cheered together as she passed by on a float singing Last Christmas.

Following Ariana's comments to radio host Brian Fink of Florida last week radio station 93.3 FLZ have since been removed from the station's website and the station's tweet about the break-up news also has been mysteriously removed.

A spokesperson for Ariana and Nathan have been contacted for comment.
