Overview:
Thompson Square, the husband-and-wife act of Keifer and Shawna Thompson, broke out in a big way with their platinum-selling single"Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not" in 2010.

A self-titled long-player followed in 2011, with more songs about the give-and-take of relationships.

Members of Thompson Square:
• Keifer Thompson (vocals, guitar)
• Shawna Thompson (vocals)

Comparisons:
If you like Taylor Swift, The Band Perry, and Steel Magnolia, it's likely you'll dig Thompson's Square's brand of romantic country. At times their bright and upbeat music can verge on Southern Rock.

Thompson Square Quotes:
(About working with your significant other): "A lot of couples can't be together 24 hours a day -- but for us it doesn’t work unless it's like that."
- Keifer Thompson
(On the song "Let's Fight): "Shawna and I get along sometimes too good, because it's hard to write sad songs about love lost when you’re not experiencing that. But I thought it'd be cool to write a song saying, 'Let’s fight and get things stirred up... and then make up!'"
- Keifer Thompson

How They Met:
Keifer and Shawna met at a songwriting competition in Nashville, Tennessee. They felt an instant attraction and, after trying to make a go as solo acts, began performing together.

Rise to Fame:
Making it in the Nashville wasn't easy for the pair. It took 15 years of playing and paying their dues before Keifer and Shawna inked a record deal with Stoney Creek Records in 2010.

"We were right there on the cusp," Keifer told the Associated Press. "And I said, 'I swear, this is the last time I'll say this: Give it one more year. Something's going to happen. I feel it in my bones."

"Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not":
"Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not" was the group's breakthrough single. It tells the story of two people falling in love. Shawna Thompson plays the part of the woman, wondering when the guy is going to get the courage to make his move by kissing her. Eventually he does and sparks fly.

The love song was written by David Lee Murphy and Jim Collins. Before they wrote this song, Murphy had scored hits with Kenny Chesney ("Living in Fast Forward") and Jason Aldean's classic tractor song("Big Green Tractor.") Not to be outdone, Jim Collins was responsible for the farm equipment-friendly tune "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" (Chesney) and Chad Brock's "Yes," among the most time-tested country wedding songs.

Music Video for "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not":
The music video for "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not" was responsible for a good amount of the duo's success. It received frequent airplay on CMT, and features Keifer and Shawna acting out the song's progression of a relationship from first kiss to wedding day.
