Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of Americans today. It's that simple - and that devastating for those whose conditions go untreated. Each day, new strides are being made in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The University of Michigan is on the forefront of innovative, advanced efforts to combat the magnitude of cardiovascular disease. We're doing it with top-quality medical teams, cutting-edge research and a new state-of-the-art clinical building.

Each year, the U-M Cardiovascular Center staff:
Treats more than 6,000 hospital inpatients
Sees more than 35,000 outpatients
Performs more than 800 open-heart operations on adults, and nearly 600 on children, as well as hundreds more operations throughout the Center
Performs more than 4,800 electrophysiological studies and procedures
Performs more than 800 vascular surgery procedures
Conducts more than 2,700 interventional radiology procedures and thousands of diagnostic imaging studies

We've made great strides toward our goals, creating new ways to serve patients better, to push the boundaries of scientific and health care research, and to train tomorrow's health leaders.

From heart attacks and strokes to rare congenital conditions, we do it all and we do it well. Our care, our research and our educational programs have been recognized nationally by many organizations for their quality and impact on the lives of our patients.
