Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital, located in Wheaton, Illinois, has been serving the physical rehabilitation needs of adults and children since 1972. Offering inpatient, outpatient and subacute rehabilitation programs, Marianjoy’s flagship facility has the distinction of being the only free-standing rehabilitation hospital of its kind in the country with 120 private rooms.

The new hospital, which opened in October 2006, is a $60 million, 170,000 square foot facility with an array of unique features. Each floor is dedicated to Marianjoy’s specialty programs and services which include pediatrics, spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, and orthopedic.

Patient rooms are designed to accommodate patients and their families with a high degree of comfort and privacy, while offering beautiful views of the 60 acre wooded campus. Just beyond the lobby is an enabling garden that gives patients an opportunity to experience the healing effect of interacting with nature. The labyrinth allows those who walk or wheel its path to pray, reflect, and meditate and is open to the public daily (weather permitting) from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Patients can also relax and reflect in the hospital’s soundproof meditation room or in the two-story chapel that features vertical stained glass windows.

In October 2007, the newly renovated Outpatient Pavilion opened in the building that once housed the former hospital. The 8,900 square foot facility is designed to create a warm, open, healing environment for adults and pediatric patients receiving outpatient services at Marianjoy.  In addition to providing physical, occupational, and speech therapies, the new outpatient rehabilitation pavilion includes spacious, state-of-the-art therapy gyms, a warm-water therapy pool, private treatment rooms, a fully equipped balance and vestibular evaluation clinic, lymphedema treatment areas and recreational spaces.
