David H. Harter, MD is an Assistant Professor of neurosurgery and pediatrics at NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Harter joined the Division in 2005. He was previously the Director of pediatric neurosurgery at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Harter's neurosurgery residency training was at the University of Maryland, under the mentorship of Howard Eisenberg, M.D.Following his residency, Dr. Harter completed his pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Children's Memorial Hospital-Northwestern University, an internationally recognized center of excellence for the treatment of pediatric brain tumors and spina bifida. Under the direction of David McLone, M.D. and Tadanori Tomita, M.D. Dr. Harter's clinical and research focus included endoscopic management of brain tumors and hydrocephalus, congenital spinal disorders and pediatric vascular malformations, such as cavernous and arteriovenous malformations.
