A family-owned and operated business since its beginning in 1888, Houlihan Lawrence was born from the 1980 merger of two of Westchester County's forebears: William Lawrence, the founder of Sarah Lawrence College and one of the Southern Westchester's original developers, and A.T. Houlihan Real Estate, which had served Northern Westchester since the 1950s.

Still headquartered in the building where William Lawrencestarted his business more than 125 years ago, Houlihan Lawrence has thrived and enjoyed unprecedented growth since it was acquired by Nancy Seaman and her family in 1990. Now joined by her brothers, Stephen & Chris Meyers, the company is the largest independent residential real estate brokerage in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties.
