Latrobe Estate Planning Attorney with 25-Plus Years Experience

Effective, Efficient Solutions for Your Business and Family

In 1986, attorney Eric Bononi opened a legal and accounting firm in a small, rented storefront in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Our fledgling business had one secretary and an old memory typewriter. Now, our firm serves roughly 1,000 individual and corporate clients per year; employs three accountants, three attorneys and three support staff members; owns a Greensburg office building strategically located across from the courthouse and operates with state-of-the-art computer technology.

Despite our growth over the past 25 years, we are first and foremost a family firm, emphasizing good old-fashioned personal service. We strive to provide cost-effective and highly personalized service in each of our practice areas. Partnering with local business, we provide virtual in-house counsel for all legal concerns. Working closely with families, we handle everything from estate planning to divorce and custody issues.

Dedicated to Community Service
Beyond the courtroom, we are devoted to community service in Greensburg and the surrounding area. As a member of the Pennsylvania and Westmoreland Bar Associations and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Eric Bononi sits on the board of 1st Summit Bancorp and teaches at both the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and Westmoreland County Community College. He is also a member of Excela Health's Hospital Foundation Board. He will soon be installed as board president for the Westmoreland-Fayette Boy Scout Council. Eric is also a trustee of Dante Alighieri, an Italian-American organization, and a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus.

Is Bankruptcy Right for You?
If you are thinking about bankruptcy, our staff of attorneys and CPAs can help you make an informed decision about the short-term and long-term consequences of bankruptcy. We focus primarily on Chapter 7 bankruptcy. However, we have the ability to help clients file for Chapter 11 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy as well.

What Is Chapter 7?
A Chapter 7 bankruptcy is often described as a debt liquidation bankruptcy. Unlike Chapter 13, which provides for a restructuring of debts and a payment plan, the goal of a Chapter 7 bankruptcy is to eliminate or reduce all dischargeable debts. Some debts, e.g., child support, are not dischargeable. However, most debts that currently plague family households are partially or completely dischargeable, i.e., credit card debts and medical debts.

Although the results of a Chapter 7 bankruptcy vary from case to case, a Chapter 7 bankruptcy may be able to help you:
Stop a wage garnishment
Stop enforcement of a judgment
Stop creditor harassment
Prevent repossession of your car and other valued assets
Reduce or eliminate credit card debts
Reduce or eliminate medical debts
Reduce or eliminate other financial debts

Effective, Efficient Solutions for Your Business and Family
If you are looking for a way to wipe our your debt as soon as possible and get a fresh start, you want to explore Chapter 7 bankruptcy. The first thing you have to do is take a means test and see if you qualify. With lawyers and accountants on staff, we can take a look at your situation and help you get an idea of whether or not you may qualify.
Once you qualify for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, you will begin the liquidation process. We will take a look at your full range of debts and put them into one of two categories: dischargeable debt and non-dischargeable debt. Non-dischargeable debt cannot be wiped out via bankruptcy, and this category includes tax debts and student loans. Dischargeable debt includes medical bills and credit card debt, and when you file for Chapter 7, you can erase this debt within three to five months.
There are a lot of quick fixes out there, such as debt consolidation scams, 401(k) withdrawals, reverse mortgages and short sales. While they may buy you some time, you may be sacrificing more of your financial future than you have to. If you decide to file for Chapter 13, we will work with your creditors to create a repayment plan you can afford. The plan will last three to five years, and when it is finished, you will be freed from any remaining dischargeable debt.
