The respected educational operation,PROSOURCE® Educational Services,is now Kaplan Professional Schools, signaling one of the final steps in the June, 2001 acquisition of PROSOURCE by Kaplan, Inc., a subsidiary of the Washington Post.

Kaplan Professional Schools is the state’s largest professional licensing institution, serving more than 40,000 professionals in 32 communities throughout Minnesota. Kaplan Professional Schools offers classes in real estate, real estate appraisal, building construction, home inspections, insurance, securities, and computer applications. Permanent Minnesota classrooms are located in St. Paul, Bloomington, and Plymouth.

“We are in a better position than ever before to serve our customers’ educational needs,” said Josh Levenson, president of Kaplan Professional Schools. “Loyal PROSOURCE customers can rest assured that our company, under the Kaplan Professional Schools name, will continue to be staffed by the same great team and local decision makers they have come to know and depend on for more than a quarter century.”

Minnesota is the seventh state with a Kaplan Professional Schools presence to complete the name change and operations conversion process. The name change has already been completed at California-based Anthony Schools and Inspection Training Associates, Colorado-based Jones College, Texas-based Leonard-Hawes School and the Real Estate School, Nevada-based Southern Nevada School of Real Estate, and New Mexico-based Dearborn Institute.

The Kaplan name is not new to Minnesota. The company has been a presence to Minnesotans preparing for college entrance exams for years. PROSOURCE Educational Services was established in 1979 by locals Joe Coyne and Rick Larson. Since the 2001 buy-out, both have remained executives for Kaplan Professional Schools.
