As the rest of us sit on our couches sipping egg nog this Christmas Eve, astronauts Rick Mastracchio and Mike Hopkins are conducting a second spacewalk to repair a broken control valve on the International Space Station. The walk began at 6:53 a.m. Eastern. As of 10:50 a.m., the station was 260 miles above the south Pacific Ocean.

According to NASA, only one other Christmas Eve spacewalk attempt has ever been made.
