Peanut/Nut Aware Environment at Lois Lenski Elementary
USINFO | 2014-01-07 14:13

In 2013-2014 the kindergarten through fifth grade classes, and K+ Enrichment at Lois Lenski Elementary School are designated peanut/nut aware environments. This is necessary because there are students in these classes with very serious life-threatening peanut/nut allergies and anaphylaxis (severe and sometimes fatal systemic reaction).  The following measures are being implemented in the classes.

 Parents, staff and students in the kindergarten through fifth grade classes are asking to refrain from sending or eating peanuts/nuts or food items containing peanuts/nuts during school.

 Students will be monitored to ensure that there is no sharing of food.

 Students will be monitored for washing hands before and after eating.

 Information on safe foods and safety measures for the peanut/nut aware environment will be provided for students, parents and staff.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us strive to keep these classes of the 2013-2014 school year safe for all of our kids.
