"Be it known to all who enter here that CHRIST is the reason for this school. He is the unseen but ever present teacher in its classes. He is the model of its faculty and the inspiration of its students."  author unknown

Xavier College Preparatory is a Community of Faith rooted in the rich tradition of its founders, the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. “The Holy Spirit has always been linked with the gift of wisdom,” said Campus Minister Sister Joanie Nuckols, BVM. “In the midst of making academic progress, we should not lose sight of that wisdom.”

As a Catholic School, daily life at Xavier begins with morning prayer, led by students. All-school liturgies are celebrated once a month and students may also attend optional Masses several times a week in Mikkelson Chapel. The Xavier faculty gathers monthly for a Community of Faith liturgy.

First Year Students gain an understanding of the basics of the Catholic faith and a vision of the Catholic heritage so that they may appreciate and understand their faith. Values and conscience formation are taught within the context of scriptural and human directives so students may live these values in making personal choices. Within the Catholic perspective, students will learn the importance of and demonstrate attitudes of caring for themselves and others in the community.

Second Year Students gain an understanding for all that God has done for us through his Son, Jesus Christ. They are introduced to what it means to be a disciple and how in and through the Church they encounter the living Christ. Students are introduced to the fact that the Church was founded by Christ through the Apostles and is sustained by Him through the Holy Spirit and is the living Body of Christ today.
They  also learn how Christ’s concern for others, especially the poor and needy, is present today in the Church’s social teaching and mission of love and justice.

Third Year Students study Social Issues and World Religions. Christian Service hours (all 50) are completed this year.

Fourth Year Students take the required Love and the Human Vocation Seminar, which emphasizes sacramental vocations, for one semester. For the remaining semester, they may choose from a variety of seminars such as C.S. Lewis, Intro to Ethics, Philosophy, or Financial and Economic Literacy— A Call to Stewardship.

In addition to the Theology Classes, all Xavier students are required to attend monthly student Masses and one Prayer Day each year, two their senior year. The Chaplain and Campus Ministers lead prayer days with the support and input of student Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion who assist small groups. During the Fall of each year there is an optional Father-Daughter Mass and Breakfast and an optional Mother-Daughter Retreat is offered to Seniors each spring.

Practical application of Christianity is emphasized at Xavier through the Christian Service program, a variety of student clubs that foster the idea of organized social action, and traditional all-school charity drives.

Xavier has Campus Ministers and a Priest/Chaplain on staff. Their offices are easily accessible to the entire Xavier community.

Students Take an Active Role in Liturgical Activities at Xavier. They enjoy the truly moving and genuinely participatory Masses planned with the Campus Ministers. They can join in the spirited singing of the Liturgical Choir, become liturgical dancers, help plan and participate in liturgies, join a Christian Life Community group and, as Seniors, serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.

In addition to traditional Catholic services, Xavier also encourages participation in one of several faith-based clubs on campus, including Christian Life Communities, Eucharistic Ministers, Liturgical Singers, and Logos (Catholic) Film Club.
