Resurrection-St. Paul School

The history of our school relates back to 90 years ago when the pastor Fr. Michael Ryan decided that it was the obligation of the parish to educate its students in the Catholic tradition.  What was most enlightening was that this pastor (and subsequent ones) felt the need to educate not only the 75 white students, but also the African American students in the community. So, St. Paul’s had the white students schooled in what is now Dohony
Hall and the African American students were educated in the basement of the church.

Monsignor John then reminded the students that people back then sat in the exact same pews and had tremendous faith and courage that the school needed to grow to meet the needs of the parish and therefore moved to our current location. He told the students that this was a huge leap of faith because the building of the new school and satellite parish would require large sums of money and the banks would need to be paid back. He spoke of the sacrifices that parents made (and continue to make) to send their kids to a Catholic Parish School. He challenged the kids that one day, when they are older and sitting in these pews, that they too would have the courage and faith to make the necessary sacrifices to keep Catholic Education going. What a great history we have! Thank you parents for continuing to have faith in Catholic Education and more importantly in Resurrection-St. Paul
School!

We have some more great news to report about our great school. For the first time in my seven years here at Resurrection-St.Paul.
