How to Find Out What You Made on Your AP Art Portfolio
USINFO | 2014-01-03 14:56

Waiting for AP art portfolio scores can be stressful because of the personal nature of making art, so know your options for receiving your score. The AP studio art portfolio is evaluated at the beginning of each summer; however the deadline for submission and the date for receiving scores varies yearly. There is no official testing date; you will be judged solely on the three aspects of your art portfolio: quality, concentration and breadth.

Instructions

Receive Scores by Mail or Phone

●Wait patiently for your scores to arrive by regular mail. The College Board (the organization that grades and sends reports about your AP art portfolio) will evaluate your portfolio and automatically send your scores free of charge early in the summer, usually several weeks after the deadline for submission.

●Call the College Board to find out your score via telephone before your mailed score arrives. Check the College Board website to find out the date that you may phone in for that year and also to find the telephone number. Be aware that this option requires a fee.

●Receive your AP number via phone or mail. This number will allow you to easily have phone or Internet access to your portfolio score and allow you to send your score to colleges for possible college credit. Your number will automatically be included in your mailed score packet, or it may be requested via telephone.

Tips & Warnings
●Your portfolio will be graded on a score of 1-5, with 5 being the top score.

●Remember that the grading or scoring of art is subjective. Your personal work may be viewed differently by different instructors or viewers, so don't be discouraged if you don't score as well as you hoped.

●Note that while other AP exams may be rescored for a fee, this is not possible with the AP art portfolio.
