A-Levels are Year 13 examinations taken by graduating secondary school students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as in British-patterned high schools around the world. The exams can be taken by adults or independent students. The tests cover subject areas such as arts, humanities, science, math, English, foreign languages and vocational subjects. Mathematics A-Level is a requirement for most UK engineering courses, and passing A-Level math could earn you advanced placement credit at U.S. colleges and universities.

Method

●Decide on your mode of study. You can study A-Level math at school, through distance learning or on your own. Settle on what works best for you: Adults and busy professionals, for example, may prefer correspondence courses, as these can fit in with their schedule; or, they may prefer a formal classroom environment where they can learn with school-age children or other adults.

●Sign up for A-Level math tuition if you need it. There are many distance learning providers and schools in the UK who offer A-Level math. Details are usually available from a variety of sources, such as career advisers who are UK public sector education counselors.

●Gather study materials and make time in your schedule, once you have decided on your mode of A-Level study. Browse your local library, online bookstores and secondhand bookstores for study guides and A-Level math books. You may also want to form a study group or attend a revision class.

●Choose your examination board, if you want to take an examination at the end of your A-Level math course in order to certify your skills and earn an A-Level certificate.

●Some people study A-Level math for personal enrichment and do not wish to write examinations at the end of the course, but if you wish to, there are several examination boards that design A-Level curricula and make the tests.

●The core content of study will be largely the same across all examination boards, but there will be some differing emphasis on the higher-level mathematical material. Choose the examination board that most fits your mathematical aptitude. For example, one examination board may require you to prove rigorous mathematical theorems, while another may simply test your ability to manipulate equations or do mental arithmetic.
